Studio 5.5 designers reinvent seaside furniture with Dickson textiles

Inspired by the architecture of French coastal resort La Grande Motte, the 5.5 design studio has created a collection that takes a fresh approach to iconic seaside objects. The studio called on the expertise of the world’s leading designer of outdoor textiles, Dickson®, to collaborate on the creation of two of these objects.
Designed for use on the beach, these sunshades made from Orchestra fabric by Dickson® echo the resort’s architectural pyramids. Canopies decorated with cut-out modenature shapes, these sunshades blend light and shadow by projecting the outline of the resort’s buildings onto the sand.
Planted in the sand, these comfortable backrests bring you closer to the elements. Inspired by the Acapulco building’s geometric modenatures, these beach backrests in Orchestra fabric by Dickson® offer a handy alternative to the deckchairs now gaining ground on beaches along the coast.
“DESIGN ON THE BEACH” EXHIBITION
The collection will be presented for the first time at this exhibition, in a pop-up beach hut, as part of the resort’s summer design market, the Puces du Design de La Grande Motte, from 29 June to 2 July. Here, visitors can discover a new beach experience in-situ and try out the designs for themselves.

Awning: an asset to develop your brand identity
Logo, baseline, colours, shapes : a well-built brand identity helps to increase your company’s visibility. It must be defined by thoughtful graphics and visual codes in order to give meaning to the rest of the communication and to unify it in order to keep a coherence that will benefit your company. We often think of the shop window as the first point of communication. However, awnings offer an excellent additional alternative. Dickson fabrics are tailored to your needs and expectations in terms of visual identity, thanks to a wide choice of colours but also to their possibility of personalization.
