As part of its Greenovation approach, Dickson is releasing the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its woven flooring. The goal is to provide transparent information on the carbon footprint of its woven vinyl floors and support specifiers, architects, and users in making responsible choices.
A controlled carbon footprint
The LCA, conducted by Greenly, an independent specialized organization, shows that 1 m² of Dickson woven flooring emits 13 kg CO₂e over a 25-year lifespan, which equals 0.52 kg CO₂e per year.
This analysis considers the entire product lifecycle: raw material extraction, manufacturing, transport, use, and end of life.
For comparison:
1 m² of textile flooring (10-year lifespan) = 3.01 kg CO₂e/year
1 m² of PVC flooring (LVT type, 10-year lifespan) = 3.26 kg CO₂e/year
Thanks to its durability and low maintenance, Dickson Woven Flooring has a lower carbon footprint than many alternative flooring options.
A recognized methodology
The assessment was carried out using the IPCC 2013 GWP 100a method, developed by the IPCC in 2013. This method converts multiple greenhouse gases into a single unit, CO₂ equivalent, and measures their climate impact over a 100-year horizon.
This guarantees reliable comparison in line with international standards.
A global commitment to the environment
Beyond this evaluation, Dickson continues its efforts to reduce its environmental impact:
Gradual integration of bio-based materials in the woven surface (target: 100% by 2026)
25% self-consumption of renewable energy at the Hordain site
22% reduction in the carbon footprint of manufacturing between 2016 and 2022 (FDES data)
100% recycling or recovery of production waste
A transparent approach
By publishing this LCA, Dickson makes its product carbon footprint accessible and supports building professionals in their ecological transition. This initiative reflects our ambition to design woven floors that are high-performing, aesthetic, and sustainable.
